Christmas Jewelry

I'm sorry I didn't keep my poll up for long. I really wanted to do a post. Sadly, there was only one vote and that was for Christmas jewelry. I just figured out how to make sturdy paper beads. Keep reading if you want to know how. 

The first step is to cut strips of paper. Try to make them as even as possible. I used a cutting board. 

Next, you want to grab a pen or pencil. The wider it is, the bigger the middle of the bead will be. The longer your strip of paper is, the thicker your bead will be. 

Take your paper and start wrapping it around your pen or pencil. Don't worry about gluing your base down. Once you're close to wrapping the end around, put glue on the rest of the strips and continue wrapping. Once you're done, slowly and carefully slide the bead off the pen/pencil. You may notice the very top of the end starting to unravel. Secure it with tape. Your final bead should look something like shown below. 

And here are all my beads.

Now just string them through a string! Ta da!  

Drawer Labels

I know this isn't a Christmas craft, but I desperately need labels and I really want to do a blog post. Today I'll show you how to make fancy labels for your drawers. Stay tuned everyone! 

Start off by measuring your drawer. Then, draw a rectangle or square the same size on a paper of your choice. This is about the size of mine. 

The next part is simple. Just write what drawer on the paper. Then tape it to your drawer. Make as many as you'd like because you'll never mix up your drawers again!

Christmas Gift 2

You know what would be great for dads? I do. Once again, this craft is inspired by Pinterest and is usually used for Father's Day. You can make a booklet held together by a split ring. I used an old deck of cards to make my booklet. On each card, I wrote one reason I love my dad. I also included a title page. Here's how I did it. The very first thing I did was hole punch each card at the top left corner. I cut out 52 tiny squares of scrapbook paper. I wrote the reason on that. Then, I taped the scrapbook paper to the card. This craft can be tricky, though. I had to sit down and work on it for four hours at a stretch. And when you insert the cards into the split ring, you have to do it one by one and it really makes your fingers slippery and sore for a long time. I want to warn all of you to think twice before doing this craft because it looks fantastic and your dad will keep it forever, but keep the cons in mind. Below I'll show you my final product and a few reasons. 

Those were just a few reasons, but keep in mind I have 52. I've already wrapped my brother's and my mom's gifts. I didn't do a post on my brother's gift because I thought finding the right gift for parents can be tricky and challenging. Once again, be sure to vote on my new poll ASAP. 

Star Ornament/Christmas Gift 1

Hello everyone. On my poll, two people voted for star ornament and two people voted for Christmas gifts. The thing is, I just realized that I haven't really come up with a star ornament design. Those of you who really want a star ornament, click on the origami website link in the menu bar. On that website, there are tons of stars. I think the best one is the five pointed modular star, but you could do something  off your choice. However, today I'll show you a great gift for moms. I've seen it a lot on Pinterest and it's mostly used as a mother's day gift, but I decided it's perfect for Christmas. All you need it a wide mouth jar, a pen, scrapbook paper, and ribbon. The first thing you want to do is decorate the jar lid. Place the lid over a section of scrapbook paper and trace around the lid. Cut it out. Glue the circle onto the lid. Then, for more decoration, you can add a ribbon as shown below. 

On the jar, write Mommy Is...  Next, cut out strips of scrapbook paper. Use the kind a where there's a pattern on one side and it's white on the other. On the white side, finish the sentence. There are a few examples shown below.

Fold the paper in half so the design shows. 

Make add many compliments as you'd like and place them all on the jar. Your mom will cherish this gift for a long time. Below is my finalized product.

Christmas Tree

And the winner is..............Christmas tree with three votes! I really apologize to all of you who wanted me to do something different, but on my blog, majority wins! Keep in mind I will definitely do everything before Christmas. I really hope you enjoy. I'm sorry I didn't post in a while. Keep reading for instructions! For the last few years, my family and I had to deal without a Christmas tree. I want to warn all of you that this tree will not be able to stand up by itself. Instead, it will be against a wall. 

First, you have to choose some pretty paper. Who says Christmas trees have to be green? I'm going to make mine orange. I decided to pick out different patterns. For some people, many patterns in one tree can look a bit odd. I think it looks fabulous. Since I'm out of construction paper, I'll be using scrapbook paper. Make sure your paper is as thick as possible. You have to lay out the papers as shown below.

This next part requires just a bit of tape. You want to tape everywhere where two papers intersect. This just keeps everything together and intact. 

The next step can be really tricky and requires practice. Draw a Christmas tree on the huge paper. Be sure to make it as big as possible and leave room for the stump. My strategy is to draw all straight lines. That way, it can be more even. I wish I could show you my drawing, but I did it in pencil and you cannot see it right now, so I'll show you after I cut ✂ it out. You're gonna want to cut yours out, too. 

After cutting, you may find the papers are kind of coming apart. Don't tape everywhere, just in the areas where it is coming apart.

I'm sorry this was very simple and not at all advanced. I can guarantee that if you use different colors, it will look gorgeous. Just try it out.

Christmas Crafts

Hey guys. I know it's still two months until Christmas, but I've decided to start posting Christmas crafts now because I'm really excited.
